Ethereal traces back to the ancient Greek αἰθήρ, aether. In Hesiod's Theogony, Aether was a primordial deity born of Erebus (darkness) and Nyx (night), the pure upper air the gods breathed, distinct from the air of mortals. Neo is what we've added, the new.
Neo Ethereal is that same ancient, sacred air, breathed again with a modern sense.
